Use Windows Quick Assist.
Quick Assist is already built into Windows 10 and 11 — nothing to install. Here's exactly how to open it when we ask. Follow the blue boxes.
Open the Start menu
Click the Windows icon in the bottom-left corner of your screen (or press the Windows key on your keyboard).
⊞ Win — the key with the Windows logo, usually bottom-left.
Type "Quick Assist"
Just start typing Quick Assist. You'll see it appear at the top of the search results with a blue icon.
Can't find it? It's free in the Microsoft Store — search there instead.
Enter our code
Click Quick Assist to open it, then type in the 6-digit security code we give you over the phone and click Submit.
Only ever enter a code from us — never from a stranger who calls you.
A quick safety note
Quick Assist lets someone see and control your screen. That's powerful — which is why you should only use it with someone you called, never someone who called you out of the blue. Real tech companies (including us) will never cold-call you about a "virus."
